Danny, 22, a gang member from East Los Angeles told me: "I used to be really particular about my clothes. I used to iron my clothes for hours to look good, to impress and intimidate. I'd wear my gang affiliated wear. White t-shirt and my Ben Davies and my Nike Cortez and somebody would know "hey, that guy is trouble right there, walking down the street."They'd know I was from somewhere and that if you messed with me there was gonna be another ten, fifty, hundred other guys to mess with and not only that. You'd know you'd have to duck from guns and everything. And they feel intimidated, they're the one's who feel intimidated. It's weird but it makes me feel allright. I don't care as much now, I just iron them to get the wrinkles out but that's it. I still like wearing the baggy clothes though. I like it. I don't like wearing tight-ass-pants, I tell the guys at work, "hey, your ass is eating your pants. Maybe you like that but I like to be comfortable. I like to be relaxed."
